Most questions we get are about lock sizing, valve fitment and warranty claims. Here are the answers. If yours is not here, email support@gowowsport.com and we will reply within one business day.
Which lock should I buy — U-lock, chain or cable?
They stop different things, so the honest answer is that it depends on how long you leave the bike and where.
- U-lock (19mm shackle): the hardest of our locks to cut. Both ends of the shackle lock into the body, so an attacker has to cut twice. Best for a bike left all day at a station or outside an office, locked to a fixed rack.
- Chain lock (6mm hardened steel links): flexible enough to wrap around a frame, a wheel and a post in one go, and awkward to attack because there is no rigid point to brace against. Best for locking to irregular objects like trees, railings and lamp posts.
- Cable lock (10.5mm braided steel): lightest and cheapest. Stops an opportunist walking off with an unlocked bike, not an angle grinder. Best as a second lock, or for a bike you never leave for long.
The realistic answer for most riders is a U-lock or chain as the primary lock, and a cable as the secondary one that also secures the wheels.
What length lock do I need?
You need enough length to pass through the frame, at least one wheel and whatever you are locking to. Short locks are stronger but limit where you can park.
- 65cm: frame plus a fixed rack, or frame plus one wheel on a short post. Packs small.
- 100–103cm: frame, one wheel and a post with some slack. The practical all-rounder.
- 120cm: two bikes, or a thick post plus both wheels.
If you are between sizes, go longer. A lock that does not reach is a lock you will not use.
How do I set the combination, and what if I forget it?
Our combination locks ship with the dials set to 0-0-0-0 (four-digit models) or 0-0-0-0-0 (five-digit models). To set your own code, open the lock with the factory code, turn the setting screw or press the reset button until the dials spin freely, choose your code with the shackle still open, then turn the screw back and scramble the dials.
Write the code down somewhere other than your phone. If you forget it, we cannot recover it — there is no master key by design, because a master key would also open your lock. A locksmith can cut the cable, but the lock will not survive it.
Are your lights legal for night riding in Australia?
Australian road rules require a white light visible for at least 200 metres at the front and a red light visible for at least 200 metres at the rear when riding at night. Both of our light sets meet that: the 300-lumen front light and 50-lumen rear light are well above the visibility requirement, and they also run a flashing mode, which is legal in every Australian state.
They are USB-C rechargeable, so there are no disposable batteries to keep buying. Runtime depends on mode; the lower steady settings are the ones to use if you need a full week of commuting out of a single charge.
Will the pump fit my valves?
Yes, on all three common valve types. The head fits Presta (road, most hybrids), Schrader (mountain bikes, cars, kids’ bikes) and Dunlop or Woods valves (common on older and imported commuter bikes). You flip the lever to lock the head on, so it does not leak while you pump.
Check the maximum pressure before you buy: the floor pump with the gauge is rated to 160 PSI, which covers road tyres at 100–120 PSI as well as mountain bike tyres at 25–35 PSI. The mini pumps are for getting home, not for seating a tubeless bead.
How do I choose the right kickstand?
Match the stand to your wheel size, not your frame size. Our adjustable centre-mount stand extends from 33cm to 38cm and covers 20, 22, 24, 26 and 27.5 inch mountain bike wheels, plus 451 and 650C road wheels.
Check the number moulded into your tyre sidewall — something like 27.5×2.10 — before ordering. Two more things worth knowing: a centre-mount stand needs a flat mounting plate behind the bottom bracket, and it should not be clamped onto a carbon fibre frame without a torque wrench and the correct sleeve.
What does the warranty cover, and how do I claim it?
Two years against manufacturing defects: a lock cylinder that seizes, a shackle that cracks under normal use, a pump that loses pressure at the head, a light that stops charging. It does not cover cut locks, lost keys, crash damage, or normal wear such as a worn cable sleeve.
To claim, email support@gowowsport.com with your Amazon order number and two photos of the fault. You do not need to go through Amazon for a warranty claim — we handle it directly, and we ship the replacement part rather than asking you to send the whole item back when a small part will fix it.
Where do I buy, and how do I return something?
Orders are completed on Amazon.com.au — the Shop on Amazon button on each product page opens the listing, where you see live price and delivery for your address. Delivery, payment, tracking and refunds are all handled by Amazon.
To return an item, use Amazon’s returns centre in your account. If you are outside Amazon’s return window but within 30 days and the item is unused, or if the item is faulty, email us and we will sort it out directly. Full detail is on our Refund & Returns Policy.
